Ten-pin bowling is the most popular variety of bowling in the world. In ten-pin bowling, there are 10 pins arranged in a triangular pattern, and the bowler must knock all of them down with 3 balls. There are other types of bowling such as five pin, six pin, candlepin, and nine-pins, but ten-pin is by far the most popular.
A strike is when a bowler knocks down all 10 pins with their first ball in a frame. This is worth 10 points plus the points for the next 2 balls thrown.
In bowling, each player gets 10 frames to try and knock down as many pins as possible. In each frame, the player gets 2 chances (or rolls) to throw a Bowling ball down the lane and towards the pins. The goal is to knock down as many pins as possible. Pins that are knocked down are worth different points, and the player with the most points at the end of 10 frames is the winner.
A spare is when a bowler knocks down all 10 pins with their second ball in a frame. This is worth 10 points plus the points for the next ball thrown.
A gutter ball is when a bowler fails to knock down any pins with their ball. This is worth 0 points.
A perfect game is when a bowler scores a strike in every frame for a total of 12 strikes. This is the highest possible score in bowling and is very difficult to achieve.
To determine your average score, you first need to calculate your total score. This is the sum of all the points you've scored in all of your games. Once you have your total score, divide it by the number of games you've played. This will give you your average score.
A split is when a bowler knocks down 2 or more pins with their ball but they are not in the same row. This is worth 2 points plus the points for the next ball thrown.
